An interesting German, possibly Saxon violin dating from about 1880, and branded "HOPF" below the button.  A mid to dark brown varnish over a yellow ground, back and ribs in a medium figure tonewood, the neck and scroll in tighter curl.  Front in a tight grain showing a well repaired crack descending from the right f-hole. Set up with 4 new pegs, french bridge and soundpost, and high quality Dominant strings,

Comes with new lightweight case and bow.
